Era Alaska Supports UAA Athletes with $10,000 Donation
ANCHORAGE – Era Alaska announces its continuing support of the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) department of athletics with a $10,000 donation.
The donation will go toward the Student Athlete Emergency Medical Fund, an account that provides security and peace of mind for UAA student athletes that face critical medical issues. Though all UAA student athletes have general medical insurance, severe health concerns are not always covered by insurance. Just last year, a student athlete underwent amputation of both legs due to serious medical issues. Era Alaska’s donation ensures that the fund will include the needed capital to help those athletes facing catastrophic illness or injury.
“Here at Era Alaska, we believe that UAA athletics is a worthy cause to support—and the Student Athlete Emergency Medical Fund seemed like the perfect fit,” said Bob Hajdukovich, CEO. “It’s a fund that is desperately needed and can provide help to athletes that are facing life-changing situations.”
According to the UAA department of athletics, a strong athletics program at UAA benefits not only the student athletes themselves, but also the community at large. With this donation, Era Alaska is proud to contribute to that benefit and help UAA athletes stay healthy and be taken care of when they need it most.
“This really matters and will have a positive impact for Seawolf Nation,” said Steve Cobb, director of athletics for UAA, in a letter thanking Era Alaska for its endowment.
Era Alaska is the largest regional airline based in the state, offering daily passenger and cargo services to nearly 100 communities across Alaska. All flights operated on Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft feature full in-flight cabin service.
