Dr. Matt Taintor joins SEARHC medical staff in Sitka
SITKA, Sept. 20, 2012 — The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) is pleased to announce that Dr. Matt Taintor, MD, has joined the medical staff at the SEARHC S’áxt’ Hít Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka. In addition to providing care for families in Sitka, Dr. Taintor will provide itinerant care for SEARHC patients living in Angoon.
“We are delighted to have Dr. Taintor joining the Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital medical staff,” S’áxt’ Hít Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital Administrator/Medical Director Dr. Marty Grasmeder said. “Being trained in both pediatrics and internal medicine, he brings a unique skill set to the hospital and our outpatient practice. He’s an excellent physician and a great addition.”
Dr. Taintor earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota and he completed a combined internal medicine/pediatrics residency at the University of Utah. He also holds undergraduate degrees in psychology and biology from Bethel College (now Bethel University) in St. Paul, Minn.
Dr. Taintor is taking his board certification exams in pediatrics and internal medicine this fall. While at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Taintor was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Before he completed medical school, Dr. Taintor lived in Juneau where he worked with Juneau Youth Services for a couple of years and spent time as a fly-fishing guide.
“My family and I are excited to be back in Southeast Alaska,” Dr. Taintor said. “I’m excited to offer same-day appointments for my patients.”
Dr. Taintor’s medical interests include preventive medicine and pediatric growth and development. He also enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, cute kids and large lazy dog, in addition to fly-fishing, spending time on the water and all things outdoors.
