U.S. Secretary of Transportation visits Port of Anchorage

On September 27, 2011 the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, visited the Port of Anchorage with Senator Mark Begich and Congressman Don Young for a roundtable discussion and tour of the facility. The roundtable discussion featured presentations from businesses based at Alaska’s Port including Horizon Lines, Totem Ocean Trailer Express, Tesoro Alaska; as well as the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation.

Port of Anchorage Quote: “We were very excited to have Secretary LaHood visit our port. We are celebrating our 50th anniversary as the hub of waterborne commerce in Alaska and this is a wonderful opportunity for the Secretary to learn more about our facility and the important services that we provide to Alaskans.” stated Port Director, Governor Sheffield.
