Top Business Award Recipients Announced at Alaska Chamber Conference
(Anchorage) - This years recipients for the William A. Egan Alaskan of The Year, Bill Bivin Small Business of The Year, and Local Chamber of Commerce of The Year were announced Tuesday, September 20 at the Alaska Chamber annual conference in Talkeetna, Alaska.
Susan Bramstedt of Alaska Airlines is the recipient of the 2011 William A. Egan Alaskan of The Year award. The celebrated and prestigious William A. Egan award is presented to individuals who have made substantial and continual contributions of statewide significance while working in the private sector. Bramstedt is Alaska Airlines director of public affairs for the State of Alaska and is responsible for all aspects of the airline's community involvement and corporate giving programs. She is responsible for directing the airline's statewide community advisory board efforts that include collaboration with business leaders throughout the State. She also serves as executive director of the Alaska Airlines Foundation.
The Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce is the recipient of the 2011 Local Chamber of Commerce of The Year award. The award recognizes the consistent community involvement and excellent business reputation. The Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce is an influential pro-active business organization that provides visionary direction for the Fairbanks community through political and economic development leadership. It is a non-profit, membership driven organization with over 750 members. The Chamber has been an advocate for Fairbanks businesses for over 50 years. The award recognizes the consistent community involvement and excellent business reputation. Lisa Herbert, Executive Director of Fairbanks Chamber, accepted the award on behalf of the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce.
Mikunda, Cottrell & Co., Inc. is the recipient of the 2011 Bill Bivin Small Business of The Year award. The Bill Bivin Small Business of The Year Award, established in 1993, pays tribute to businesses that exemplify leadership, ethics and organization. Mikunda, Cottrell & Co., Inc. began as a small accounting firm in 1977 and has since becomes the largest locally owned certified public accounting firm in Alaska. The company includes nine shareholders and 90 professional and support staff providing audit, tax, and consulting services for clients throughout Alaska. Laura Edmendson, consulting manager for Mikunda, Cottrell & Co., Inc. accepted the award on behalf of the company.
