Legislature Applauds Mountain View Credit Union for Community Service
Rep. Max Gruenberg to Present Legislative Citation Tuesday
On Tuesday, September 13, Representative Max Gruenberg (D-Anchorage) will present a legislative citation to Credit Union 1 for its role in the continuing revitalization of the Mountain View community in northeast Anchorage.
“I am proud to recognize yet another community-oriented business that is calling Mountain View home,” said Rep. Gruenberg, who represents Mountain View in the Alaska State Legislature and sponsored the citation. Senator Bill Wielechowski (D-Anchorage) sponsored the citation in the Senate.
In addition to standard credit union services, the credit union hosts financial literacy classes at locations around the neighborhood, participates in local volunteer and philanthropic activities, and employs a number of bilingual tellers to serve the many multi-cultural residents in the area.
The modern building and its colorful interior are a reminder of the neighborhood’s continuing revitalization. It hosts a police substation, conference room for use by civic groups, and free wireless internet access for the citizens of Mountain View.
According to the citation adopted by the legislature last session, A” bright future is in store for Mountain View. Credit Union 1 is but one sign that the neighborhood is on the move.”
