BP Offers Post-Graduates the Opportunity to Shine in Business

BP has launched a global search for new talent among post-graduates with proven technical skills who have an ambition to shape the future of BP's Refining and Marketing businesses and its Information Technology function to potentially become senior leaders of the future.

Iain Conn, BP's chief executive for Refining and Marketing said: "This exciting programme will equip a new generation of leaders with the skills and knowledge to take our business into the future.

"We are looking for highly capable people studying a second degree, who have international experience and who bring new perspectives to our business. Whilst of course we continue to develop our current employees into leaders of the future, we must also look at refreshing our talent pipeline with individuals from outside BP with targeted skills and capabilities," he said.

He added: "By 2030, the world will consume 40% more energy than it does today. We are committed to supplying the increasing demand for energy safely, responsibly and efficiently. That's the energy challenge - and the focus of our global business, and that's why we are looking for other talented people to join BP."

The Future Leaders Programme (FLP) will focus on two different parts of BP - Refining and Marketing (including refining and fuels, lubricants, and petrochemicals) and the Information Technology Services which touches every part of BP's global organization. BP is working with universities and business schools around the world including the UK, US, China, South Africa and across other parts of Europe to find suitable people who can demonstrate that they have worked in an international environment and have relevant work experience. There will also be an online attraction campaign targeting those people in employment.

Paul Lawrenson, FLP Global Programme Manager said: "we've received huge interest in the recently launched programme, it really appeals to those who have already taken their first steps in the workplace and now look to accelerate their career in a global energy company."

People can find out more and apply online through www.bp.com/flp between now and the end of November this year. If successful, applicants will start work with BP between February and July 2012.

BP's Refining and Marketing business employs 49, 334 globally including over 14,000 retail site staff.

Approximately 40 jobs will be available annually in UK, across other European countries, US, S Africa, China and UAE, but more are expected as the programme progresses. BP employs over 650 graduates join each year on a three year programme. About 150 of those are based in the UK.

The campaign will target post-graduates at universities and business schools globally and these include:

London: Imperial College; London Business School.
US: Duke University, Pratt School of Engineering, N. Carolina; Chicago Booth Business School, Chicago.
Johannesburg: Wits Business School, Johannesburg and GIBS (Gordon Institute of Business Science).
Shanghai: CEIBS (China Europe International Business School).
Rotterdam: Delft University of Technology and Rotterdam School of Management. Madrid/Barcelona: IESE.
