Anchorage Road Projects Traffic Delays

1. Huffman Road between Old Seward Hwy. and New Seward Hwy. The Huffman Rd./New Seward Hwy. roundabout are now open. Please be alert to new traffic patterns. Visit http://www.alaskaroundabouts.com/ for driving tips.

Please be alert to intermittent side street closures along Huffman Rd. at Wagner St., Gander Dr., Woodward Dr., Silver Spruce Cir., and Gregory Rd. Huffman Rd. will remain open during these closures. Please refer to message boards for closure dates and times.

Expect delays and lane restrictions at the Lake Otis Pkwy. and Huffman Rd. intersection from Tuesday, Sept. 13th through Wednesday, Sept. 14th. Beginning Wednesday, September 14 expect nightly side-street closures, lane restrictions and work-related noise on Huffman Road, from Gregory Road to Pintail Street, between 6:00pm and 6:00am, through Monday, September 19.

Drivers should expect daily lane restrictions on Huffman Rd. between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Be alert to new traffic patterns and reduced speed limits. Please watch for heavy equipment and construction workers on the roadway and shoulder.

2. Bragaw St. btwn. Northern Lights Blvd. and Penland Pkwy. Beginning Friday, September 16th at 8:00 PM through Monday, September 19th at 6:00 AM, drivers should expect lane closures and flagging operations on Bragaw St. between Northern Lights Blvd. and Penland Pkwy. for road improvements and paving. Please expect short delays and use alternate routes if possible.

3. 72nd Ave. btwn. Lake Otis Pkwy. and Brayton Dr. Drivers should expect intermittent lane closures and flagging operations on 72nd Ave. between Lake Otis Pkwy. and Brayton Dr. for road improvements. Please use caution in the area.

4. 36th Ave. btwn. Macinnes St. and New Seward Hwy. Drivers should expect a full westbound  closure on 36th Ave. just west of Latouche St. for utility work. Please follow detour routes. Work is expected to be completed the week of September 19th.

Immediately following this closure, a single eastbound lane closure on 36th Ave. will remain in place. Westbound traffic is expected to open to normal traffic.

5. E. 40th Ave. btwn. Lake Otis Pkwy. and Piper St. The Piper St. roundabout is now open. Please be alert to new traffic patterns.

Dale St. is closed at E. 41st Ave. until October. Please use alternate routes.

Drivers should expect intermittent lane restrictions and flagging operations on E. 40th Ave. between Lake Otis Pkwy. and Piper St. for major road improvements. Drivers should also expect intermittent lane restrictions on Lake Otis Pkwy. at W. 40th Ave. between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

6. Glenn Hwy. btwn. South Birchwood and Eklutna Drivers should expect intermittent ramp closures between N. Birchwood and Eklutna through Saturday, September 24th. Please refer to message boards for the most current schedule.

Drivers should also expect shoulder restrictions and intermittent lane restrictions on the northbound Glenn Hwy. from South Birchwood to Eklutna, Monday and Saturday, between 5:30 AM and 4:00 PM, and on the southbound Glenn Hwy. from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Expect short delays on the Glenn Hwy. bike path from South Birchwood to North Birchwood through September. Please follow construction signs for detour routes.

7. Atwood Plaza (F St./7th Ave.) Pedestrians should expect intermittent sidewalk closures around the Atwood Plaza at F St./7th Ave. for sidewalk improvements. Please follow pedestrian detour routes.

8. Old Glenn Hwy. - Fire Lake to South Birchwood Pedestrian Pathway Improvements Please expect lane closures and short delays on the Old Glenn Hwy. between West Lake Ridge Dr. and Fish Hatchery Rd., Monday through Saturday between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. At other times expect intermittent lane restrictions. Be alert to flagging operations and detour routes on the Old Glenn Hwy. pedestrian pathway.

9. Independence Dr. btwn. Jamestown and O'Malley Rd. Drivers should expect an intermittent road closure on Independence Dr. between Jamestown and O'Malley Rd. for road improvements. Residents will maintain alternate access. Please follow detour routes.

10. Eagle River Loop Rd. btwn Glenn Hwy. and Eagle River Rd. Drivers should expect nightly lane restrictions between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Be alert to reduced speed limits, uneven surfaces and construction-related noise.

11. Debarr Rd. btwn. Lake Otis Pkwy. and Airport Heights Dr. Drivers should expect intermittent lane restrictions on Debarr Rd. between Lake Otis Pkwy. and Airport Heights Dr. for road improvements. Please use caution in the area.
