ANTHC names Helgesen its new CEO

The Board of Directors of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) announced this week that Mr. Roald Helgesen will join ANTHC as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Helgesen has been the President and CEO of the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) since November 2007 and he serves as a member of the Alaska Tribal Health Directors, the Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home Association, and on the board of Healing Hands Foundation. He has previously served as the CEO of the Dirne Community Health Center, and has held a number of executive positions at SEARHC and for the State of Washington. Early in his career, he also provided direct services as an emergency medical technician.

Helgesen grew up in Sitka and is an enrolled tribal member with Sitka Tribe of Alaska and Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Earning his Master of Science degree in Health Care Administrationfrom Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, he also earned the department award for excellence in graduate education. Mr. Helgesen is a member of theAmerican College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
