2011 Rural Energy Conference Next Week
Event Slated for September 27-29 in Juneau
(Anchorage) – The Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) and the Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks will hold the 2011 Rural Energy Conference September 27-29 at Centennial Hall in Juneau. This year marks the first time the conference takes place in Southeast Alaska. The 2011 theme is “Energy Pathways to Alaska’s Future.”
Confirmed speakers include Senator Lisa Murkowski, Lieutenant Governor Mead Treadwell, and Denali Commission Federal Co-Chair Joel Neimeyer. City and Borough of Juneau Mayor Bruce Botelho and Central Council Tlingit & Haida Tribes of Alaska President Edward Thomas will deliver welcoming remarks.
“This conference will provide Alaskans the opportunity to discuss success stories, challenges, new technologies, and the vision for a sustainable future,” said AEA Executive Director Sara Fisher-Goad. “We are seeking practical approaches that will help stabilize energy costs..”
Technical sessions include: Project Financing, How Policy Drives Energy Development, Feasibility Studies, Developing Energy Projects, and Energy for Community Health.
