WHAT: Honor the heroes who assisted victims during the Fairview plane crash
WHEN: Thurs., Sept. 9, 2010, 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: Central Middle School multipurpose room, 1405 E St., Anchorage
On June, 1, 2010, a small plane crashed in the Fairview community near 7th Ave. and Ingra St.
Before authorities could arrive, more than 30 civilians put their lives on the line to rescue victims inside the aircraft. Due to their heroic efforts, four of the five victims survived.
Governor Sean Parnell, the Municipality of Anchorage and the Anchorage Police Department (APD) will host a ceremony in their honor.
APD also will honor six officers who went above and beyond the call of duty that day.
