Steam Line Utility Relocation to Impact Downtown Fairbanks Traffic Sept. 20-26

FAIRBANKS, Alaska -A planned relocation of downtown steam lines will impact traffic Sunday, Sept. 20 through Saturday, Sept. 26.

The 1st Avenue intersection and Barnette Street and the southbound lane of the Cushman Street Bridge will be closed. Southbound traffic will need to use the Peger Road Bridge or the Wendell Avenue Bridge.

The Barnette Street Bridge is a Department of Transportation and Public Facilities project that will go to bid this winter. Construction of the Barnette Street Bridge is anticipated to start in the spring of 2010.
