POW/MIA Ceremony Honors Dedication, Sacrifice

ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska - Elmendorf Airmen will honor American Prisoners of War and Missing in Action during a ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18 at Heritage Park.

Col. Marc Luiken, vice commander of 11th Air Force, and Sen. Mark Begich are scheduled guest speakers. Special guests include Alaska Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell and his wife, Ann-Marie Campbell. Other highlights include a tribute by the "Rolling Thunder" veteran's organization.

Observances of National POW/MIA Recognition Day are held across the country on military installations, ships at sea, state capitols, schools and veterans' facilities.

The event is open to anybody with a Department of Defense identification card.
