JCVB Website Wins International Website Design Award


JUNEAU, Alaska, September 22, 2009 - The Juneau Convention & Visitors Bureau's newly redesigned website, www.traveljuneau.com, has earned a "2009 Outstanding Website" designation by the Web Marketing Association (WMA).

The WMA recently announced the winners of its 13th annual WebAward Competition for website development.  More than 2,000 sites from 45 countries were judged in 96 industry categories during this year's competition. Entries were evaluated on design, technology, copywriting, innovation, content, interactivity, and ease of use.

The JCVB website won one of eleven awards granted for "Outstanding Website" in the travel category by earning a score of 67 out of 70 total points.  The site earned a perfect 10 in content, copywriting and ease of use. It earned a 9.5 in technology, interactivity, and design followed by an 8.5 in innovation. The average overall score in the Travel category was 52 points. The JCVB site outscored other competing sites such as Visit London, Discover Hong Kong, OrlandoInfo.com and California Travel and Tourism.  Sites earning points below 60 were awarded "Travel Standard of Excellence" designations.

"The Internet is a crucial planning resource for today's travelers and we wanted our new site to be visually compelling as well as useful to many different user groups," says Lorene Palmer, president/ceo of the Juneau Convention & Visitors Bureau. "The new site is designed to showcase Juneau as an exceptional visitor destination and we are delighted that the WMA recognized our efforts."

Since 1997, the Web Marketing Association's annual WebAward Competition has been helping interactive professionals promote themselves, their companies, and their best work to the outside world. Now in its 13th year, the WebAward Competition has become the premier award event for Web developers and marketers.
