Delegation Announces Grants to Alaska Programs

Washington, D.C. - The Alaska Congressional Delegation is pleased to announce the following awarded to communities in the State of Alaska:

U.S. Department of Energy:
·      $2,688,900 to the City of Anchorage under the Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant Program which will allow strategies to be implemented in order to reduce fossil fuel emissions .
·      $450,000 to the University of Alaska in order to assist with the characterization of the dynamics of climate systems and identification of missing mechanisms impacting climate change models.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development:
·      $734,597 to the University of Alaska Fairbanks in order to assist the local community with their "Harvesting and Caching Resources for Bristol Bay".
·      $749,597 to the University of Alaska Fairbanks in order to provide training for abused and impoverished women to allow them to enter the work place.
·      $92,207 to the Native Village of Ouzinkie under the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act in order to provide affordable housing

U.S. Department of Commerce:
·      $60,000 to the Kodiak Area Native Association in order to establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in the region.
·      $69,189 to the Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District in order to establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in the region.
·      $50,000 to the Native Village of Barrow in order to establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in the region.
·      $100,340 to Alaska MEP, Inc in order to build non-profit centers that provide manufacturers with an array of services that focus on growth, productivity, and efficiency.
