Weekly Coal Production Report: October 10, 2013

The Weekly Coal Production Report has been updated for the week ended

October 05, 2013 and month ended September 2013.   

 

For the week ended October 05:

•    U.S. coal production totaled approximately 17.7 million short tons (mmst)

•    This production estimate is 10.2 percent lower than last week's estimate and 5.6 percent lower than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2012

•    Coal production east of the Mississippi River totaled 8.2 mmst

•    Coal production west of the Mississippi River totaled 9.5 mmst

•    U.S. year-to-date coal production totaled 765.1 mmst, 2.3 percent lower than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2012

For the month ended September 2013

•    U.S. coal production totaled approximately 83.8 million short tons (mmst)

•    This production estimate is 2.4 percent higher than the production estimate in the same month in 2012

•    Coal production east of the Mississippi River totaled 34.4 mmst

•    Coal production west of the Mississippi River totaled 49.3 mmst
