PetSmart awards Bean’s Café $3,000 to support Pet Owners in need

Anchorage – Bean’s Café, a local non-profit, is the recipient of a $3,000 grant from PetSmart a national seller of products for pets.  Funds from this grant will be used to purchase items including pet food, treats, leashes, collars, bowls and vitamins for pets of homeless and working poor.

PetSmart will provide this charitable donation through their new initiative, PetSmart Gives Back. This initiative focuses on giving back to local communities throughout the nation in support of organizations and programs that enrich people’s lives through the power of pets and foster diversity and inclusion.

Bean’s Café executive director, Lisa Sauder says, “Bean’s Café is excited to partner with PetSmart to provide this vital assistance to our clients and their pets.  Animals are so important to many people and when our clients face tough times it’s difficult for them to provide for their pets.  This will help ease that burden for many.”

The PetSmart store located at 1200 N. Muldoon Road applied for the competitive grant. The check will be presented at Bean’s Café, 1101 E. 3rd Avenue, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30.

Bean’s Café, a part of the Anchorage community since February 1979, maintains a center where the hungry and homeless are provided with hot nutritious meals, a warm and safe day shelter, as well as information and referral assistance to health and human service programs. Bean’s Café is open 365 days of the year, ensuring these services are always available to those who need it the most.
