Municipal Light & Power General Manager James Posey to Retire
ANCHORAGE, AK – October 25, 2013 – After more than a decade of service to the Municipality of Anchorage, Municipal Light & Power General Manager James M. Posey has announced plans to retire at the end of the year.
“There’s still much to do, but I’m proud of what my staff and I have accomplished,” said Posey. “The men and women at ML&P are true public servants providing safe, reliable and affordable electric service to Anchorage customers every day.”
“Jim has a great depth of knowledge and experience with regard to energy-related issues facing our state and our country,” said Mayor Sullivan. “As General Manager of ML&P, he has overseen excellent electric service and achieved an impressive level of reliability that has been critical to the well-being and growth of Anchorage. He has served our community well for a long time and will be missed.”
Prior to his appointment as general manager in 2003 by Mayor George Wuerch, Posey served three years as Director of MOA’s Cultural and Recreational Services Department.
In that position, Posey oversaw the Anchorage Museum at Rasmusen Center, the Anchorage Municipal Library System, Parks and Beautification, Sports and Recreation, and Chugiak/Eagle River Parks and Recreation.
