Fairbanks Chamber Announces 2014 Artist of the Year Contest
Now Accepting Submissions
The Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce announces a call for artist submissions for its annual Artist of the Year contest. For the past eight years, the Fairbanks Chamber has provided a local artist the opportunity to be showcased to thousands of Fairbanks residents and visitors. The winning artwork becomes the image of the Chamber for one year and is then featured on all marketing materials throughout the year, including, but not limited to Membership Postcard, the Chamber’s Website and the Chamber’s Fairbanks & North Pole Map.
All entries must be received no later than 4:00PM on Friday, November 15, 2013. Artists must be a resident of the Greater Fairbanks area and each submission must be of the artist’s original creation (all artistic techniques will be accepted). The winning artwork will be selected at the Chamber’s 2013 Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 by the members in attendance. Contest rules are available on the Fairbanks Chamber website at www.fairbankschamber.org.
In an effort to kick-off the promotion of the 2014 Artist of the Year Contest, the Chamber will be hosting a First Friday event on Friday, November 1 from 4:30PM – 8:00PM at the Chamber office located in downtown Fairbanks adjacent to the Key Bank Building. This special First Friday event will feature selected works from past Chamber Artists of the Year, including Matt Moberly, Craig Buchanan, Nikke Kinne, and Jamila Hila Shwe. There will be light hors d'oeuvres and drinks provided by the Chamber. The First Friday event will be hosted by the Chamber’s Business & the Arts Committee. The event is open to the public.
