Chugach outage update 8:15 a.m. Oct. 28

As of 8:15 a.m., an estimated 400-500 metered-locations on the Chugach system were without power as a result of the windstorm that blew through the area early this morning.

The strongest wind gust reported at a Chugach facility at Glen Alps was 81 mph.

The first reports of outages came in around 3:00 a.m.

Chugach crews have restored power to some locations.

Outages have primarily been reported on the south Hillside and in the Hope area.

The largest single outage affects 209 metered-locations served by the Hope Substation. Additional crews have been dispatched, including to Hope.

At this time there is no estimate on how long it will take to restore power to all affected Chugach members.
