Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall Expands, Improves in 2013

Anticipates Even More New Additions in 2014

ANCHORAGE, October 16, 2013 Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall, the premier shopping destination in Anchorage and its surrounding areas, has grown considerably over the past year with 14 store openings, renovations and relocations. The 5th Avenue Mall will continue to flourish in 2014, adding a batch of new stores that will be brand-new to Alaska.

“Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall continues to distinguish itself as a lifestyle and fashion destination,” says Kelly Hartsell, Simon Property Group’s Regional Vice President. “Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall has the best retail selection in the state, including a great selection of locally-based stores and superior national retailers. We are very pleased to offer such a compelling shopping destination to Alaskans and tourists alike.”

Fifth Avenue Mall has welcomed a well-rounded roster of international, national and local retailers in the past year. Some new names include Michael Kors, Sephora, Pandora, and Starbucks. Supporting local franchises and businesses provides shoppers a unique experience that is unrivaled in Alaska. Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall’s list of new, Alaskan-owned businesses include Apricot Lane Boutique, Oil & Vinegar, Peachwave Yogurt, Cracked Wireless, GrassRoots Fair Trade, 1 Stop Beauty, and Creative Choas. Relocated shops include Claire’s, Payless ShoeSource and Mad Hatter.

“Each new store opening or expansion at 5th Avenue Mall continues to broaden our offerings, bringing a fresh perspective to what retail in Alaska is,” says Christopher Lane, Director of Marketing and Business Development. “We’re very proud to add Sephora and Michael Kors to our list of retailers who have made 5th Avenue Mall their only home in the State of Alaska. We’re striving to create a place where fashion, retail and Alaska convene, so that people don’t have to travel to the Lower 48 to feel a part of the buzz.  Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall supports local stores, national brands and international fashion houses alike to create a shopper’s dream.”

Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall anticipates the addition of eight to twelve new and remodeled stores in 2014. It is partly thanks to the growing roster of elite brands that Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall continues to attract shoppers from all of Alaska and to surprise visitors from the world over.
