Alaskan Brewing Presents No Umbrellas 3: Real Fashion 4 Real Alaskans

Juneau, Alaska (October 18th, 2013) – Alaskan Brewing and a variety of local businesses are teaming up this winter to present the fashion show fundraiser No Umbrellas 3: Real Fashion 4 Real Alaskans, Saturday, October 26th at Centennial Hall from 6-9 pm.  All proceeds benefit SAIL (Southeast Alaska Independent Living).

“Every year the brewery has worked with so many talented local vendors to pull off a fantastic fundraising event- last year we raised over $8,000- I only hope we can exceed that for SAIL this year.” Says Alaskan Brewing Depot representative and No Umbrellas coordinator Kelsey Johnston. “The event is falling on Halloween weekend, so it would be a great way to start out your holiday by supporting a local charity and possibly winning a sweet prize for your costume.”

The 2013 show will feature fashions and merchandise from Alaskan Dames, Aurora Projekt, Dana Hernandez designs, Alpaca International, Fairweather Gallery, Juneau Drug, Silverbow Bakery, Juneau Roller Girls, TP Designs, the Alaskan Brewing Company Depot and more. The over 21 event will also include a no host bar by the Rendezvous, a silent auction and a costume contest at halftime.

“We are working closely with SAIL, an organization that helps locals with disabilities live independently throughout Southeast Alaska.”explained Johnston.

Each December, the Alaskan Brewing staff votes to select a local Juneau nonprofit as the beneficiary of the coming year’s fundraising efforts, which include the High Gravity Games event at Eaglecrest each March, the “tips” collected in the Brewery’s tasting bar tip jar, as well as all proceeds from the No Umbrellas show. Last year’s inaugural No Umbrellas event brought in over $8,000 for the 2012 beneficiary, Red Cross of Alaska, Southeast.

Tickets for the show are $25.00 when purchased in advance and $30.00 at the door. Tickets are available at Hearthside Books, the Juneau Arts & Culture Center, and the Alaskan Brewing Company Depot on Franklin Street.   They can also be purchased online at jahc.org or alaskanbeer.com.
