ASAA signs multi-year media rights deal with GCI

The Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA) has announced that GCI has become the official television home of the ASAA championships.  During the 2013 March Madness Alaska state high school basketball championships, GCI partnered with ASAA to broadcast the eight championship basketball games.

Beginning with the 2013 Fall sports season, GCI has the broadcast rights to all State Tournament and Championship games which they can air on either a live or delayed basis; this marks a seven year agreement with GCI.

ASAA Executive Director, Gary Matthews expressed, “ASAA is excited about our new relationship with GCI. This landmark agreement will benefit student-athletes, fans, schools and our sponsors throughout Alaska.”

About Alaska School Activities Association

Alaska School Activities Association is Alaska’s high school organization established to regulate sanctioned interscholastic activities, contests and programs. ASAA’s mission is to advocate participation in co-curricular activities and promote the academic and social development of students. Over 210 high schools and 35,000 high school students participate each year in interscholastic activities.  The ASAA staff manages 36 state championships each year in athletics, fine arts, academics and student government.
