Jimmy Wayne to Perform in Anchorage
ANCHORAGE--Country music recording artist and former foster youth Jimmy Wayne will perform October 10th at the Egan Center. Hoping to make a difference for young people, Wayne, a former foster youth himself, shares his personal story of overcoming adversity while growing up in foster care and on the streets. Jimmy Wayne has had several hit songs on the country music scene including the chart topping, “Stay Gone,” and, “I Love You This Much.” He speaks honestly and movingly about his surprising path from homeless teenager to award‐winning performer.
Jimmy is scheduled to speak at the, “Safe Families Strong Children Conference,” sponsored by the Alaska Court Improvement Project from at the Egan Center, followed by a benefit concert for Facing Foster Care in Alaska (FFCA) beginning at 6:30pm. FFCA is a local non-profit organization that advocates for improvements to the foster care system in Alaska.
Jimmy has utilized his platform as a country music sensation to raise awareness of issues faced by youth aging out of foster care throughout the country.
