S’áxt’ Hít Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital hires new anesthesiologist



SITKA, Oct. 12, 2011 — The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) S’áxt’ Hít Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka is pleased to announce the addition of Ann D. Patterson, M.D., to its medical staff as an anesthesiologist.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Patterson join our medical staff,” said Dr. Marty Grasmeder, SEARHC S’áxt’ Hít Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital Administrator/Medical Director. “She is bright, enthusiastic and brings with her skills that allow us to expand our anesthesia and operating room practices. She is an excellent addition to our team.”

Dr. Patterson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and completed her medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She did her internship and anesthesia residency at the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation and at Louisiana State University Charity, both in New Orleans. She is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and recertified in 2009.

She comes to SEARHC after working in private practice in Brandon and Canton, Miss., the past three years. Before that, Dr. Patterson spent 11 years as an anesthesiologist in Baton Rouge, La., and four years in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Dr. Patterson’s special medical interests are critcal care patient care. She also enjoys spending time with her family, LSU sports, playing Scrabble and her dog Giselle, a Rhodesian ridgeback. When asked about moving to Sitka, Dr. Patterson said, “I like rain. Good thing!”
