BBB Release: Local Game Companies Top National BBB Inquiry List

Don't Play Around When It Comes to Gaming

Anchorage, Alaska – Oct. 26, 2011 – Better Business Bureau found that Washington-based "Games & Supplies" companies are among the most-inquired-about businesses nationwide, according to BBB's national list of the top consumer inquiries by company in 2011. Consumers across the U.S. are visiting bbb.org and calling BBB for the following BBB Business Reviews:

PopCap Games Inc., based in Seattle, is the number one most-inquired-about company to date—compared to all companies in all industries—with more than 145,500 inquiries in 2011.

Big Fish Games Inc., based in Seattle, comes in at number 19 with more than 36,202 inquiries.

WildTangent Inc., based in Redmond, makes the list at 230 with more than 7,684 inquiries.

"Playing games is fun, doing research usually isn't. However, BBB Business Reviews can quickly guide players in the right direction," said Robert W.G. Andrew, CEO of BBB serving Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington.

Pick: Play it safe when purchasing games. For age appropriateness and content descriptors, review ratings from the Entertainment Software Rating Board at esrb.org.

Pry: Don't get cheated. Research game developers and dealers on Internet search engines. Find free BBB Business Reviews on "Games & Supplies" companies at bbb.org.

Play: Test products. Utilize online and in-store resources; such as game reviews, trailers and demos.

Ply: Read the rules. Find out the seller's policies. Ask questions at local game stores or contact the website's customer service team.

Pinch: Keep your wallet closed after the buy. Be wary of "in-game" purchases; a few cents here and there can add up quickly. Set limits on how much to spend before playing.
