Smurfit-Stone's Anchorage Recycling Plant Sets New Safety Record

EMPLOYEES WORK 10 YEARS WITHOUT A RECORDABLE INJURY

 

CREVE COEUR, Mo., and CHICAGO, October 22, 2010 Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation (NYSE:SSCC) recently marked a significant safety milestone at its Anchorage, AK, recycling plant: 10 years without a recordable injury.  The plant’s last recordable injury dates back to October 2000.


"This important accomplishment is a testament to our employees' sustained commitment to working safely at Smurfit-Stone," said Mike Oswald, senior vice president and general manager, Recycling division. "The employees at our Anchorage facility are actively engaged in the SAFE process and remain focused on continuous improvement with regard to safety in the workplace.”
