NRA Gives Representative Kawasaki A-Rating

Representative is Only Democrat to Earn an Endorsement in Alaska Representative Scott Kawasaki, candidate for the re-election to State House District 9, received the National Rifle Association-Political Victory Fund's (NRA-PVF) highest rating given to non-incumbent candidates for public office. Kawasaki received an "A-" rating which indicates a "solidly pro-gun candidate" according to the NRA-PVF.

"I am a Life Member of the NRA and I firmly believe in protecting the 2nd amendment. I support the right of Alaskans to keep and bear arms and will continue while in my capacity as a state legislator." Kawasaki pledged.

Representative Scott Kawasaki was the only Democratic candidate in the entire state to receive such a high rating from a typically conservative organization. Kawasaki considers the rating a testament to his broad support and individual position on many issues. Kawasaki's Republican opponent only received a "B-" rating. Representative Kawasaki also received an "A-" rating from Safari Club International.

"During the last few years, I have done what is necessary to get the job done with my constituents, not my party, in mind. If I am re-elected, I will continue to do what is best for Fairbanks first. Fairbanks deserves the best leadership in Juneau, we need someone who will be independent and thoughtful in their decisions."

The 135-year-old NRA is one of the nation's oldest civil rights group and advocates enforcement of existing laws to prosecute and punish violent criminals. The NRA is the nation's leader in gun safety education and promotes marksmanship among law enforcement officers. The Association has approximately four million members across America, thousands of who live and work in Alaska.
