Governor Parnell Orders Flags Lowered for George Rogers
October 5, 2010, Anchorage, Alaska - Governor Sean Parnell has ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor and memory of George Rogers who died on Sunday. He was 93.
Rogers was a key figure in Alaska's statehood, serving as technical consultant to the Alaska Constitutional Convention.
"George will be remembered for his work shaping our constitution," Governor Parnell said. "His never-ending devotion to his state will be part of his legacy."
Rogers is survived by his wife of 69 years and five of six adopted children.
State flags will be returned to full-staff on Friday.
