October 13, 2010, Juneau, Alaska - Governor Sean Parnell has ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor and memory of Anchorage firefighter Andy Mullen, who died from cancer on Monday.

"We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Firefighter Mullen and all of the men and women in uniform who work tirelessly to protect and serve us," Governor Parnell said. "Sandy and I will keep Andy's family and fellow firefighters in our thoughts and prayers on this sorrowful occasion."

Governor Parnell has ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff on Friday, October 15, the day of Mullens' memorial service. Flags will be raised to full-staff the following morning.
