AT&T Earns Perfect Score on Corporate Equality Index
Seventh Time AT&T's Policies Receive Recognition from Human Rights Campaign FoundationDallas, Texas, October 04, 2010 -- AT&T* today announced that for the seventh straight year, it earned a perfect 100 percent score on the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) 2011 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The HRC Foundation's CEI report, released each fall, analyzes and rates large U.S. employers on their policies and practices in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.
"I think the fact that we continue to earn the highest possible score on the CEI speaks directly to AT&T's culture, which has long recognized the business value of an inclusive workforce," said Cindy Brinkley, AT&T senior vice president - talent development and chief diversity officer. "We are always pleased when outside organizations remind us that what might seem business-as-usual for AT&T is in fact another great reason this is a terrific place to work."
"The company treats same-sex domestic partners exactly like married couples on things ranging from enforcement of company policies to life insurance and pension benefits upon death." said Jeff Rogue, AT&T customer service representative. "AT&T has done more to accept and recognize domestic partners than any company I have worked for. I lost my husband of 15 years recently, and AT&T worked with me just as they would an opposite-sex spouse. They handled everything wonderfully, and also reached out to me to make sure I was going to be alright. I have never been more proud to work for a company as I am to work for AT&T," he added.
