AK Regional Council of Carpenters Withdraw Support from McAdams; Endorse Lisa Murkowski

“Senator Murkowski’s leadership, seniority, electability and swelling ARCC membership support has caused the ARCC to change their endorsement”

Anchorage, AK- Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) today welcomed the decision of the Alaska Regional Council of Carpenters to pull its post-primary endorsement of Democrat Scott McAdams and to endorse her write-in candidacy for the U.S. Senate.

“This clearly shows that the momentum is in my direction in this final week leading to November 2nd. This endorsement is a real confirmation that I am the candidate acknowledged by so many throughout the State as being the best to bring about job creation and economic development in Alaska,” said Senator Lisa Murkowski in gratefully accepting the endorsement.

The Alaska Regional Council of Carpenters, which includes Carpenters’ Local 1243 in Fairbanks, 1281 in Anchorage, 1501 of the Millwrights, 2247 for Southeast Alaska and 2520 for the Piledrivers and Divers Unions, represents 2,000 skilled craftsmen throughout the State.

“The ARCC represents 2,000 carpenters, millwrights, piledrivers and divers across Alaska.  The ARCC endorses candidates that they feel most effectively provides for working men and women, protects the interests of all Alaskans, and promotes economic growth,” said John Palmatier, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the ARCC.

“After the August 2010 Primary, the Alaska Regional Council of Carpenters came out early with a U.S. Senate endorsement of Scott McAdams.  However, since that time Senator Murkowski announced a write-in campaign.  Senator Murkowski’s leadership, seniority, electability and swelling ARCC membership support has caused the ARCC to change their endorsement.

“It is very clear in this election that Senator Lisa Murkowski is not only the best qualified candidate, but the candidate whose election is absolutely essential if Alaska is going to continue to advance economically and to be able to provide good-paying jobs for all workers,” added Palmatier.

Murkowski said the endorsement is a clear sign that she is the best choice available in the U.S. Senate race.
