Mayor Sullivan Appoints Office of Equal Opportunity DirectorMayor Dan Sullivan on Oct, 23 named Marilyn Stewart-Richardson as director of the Office of Equal Opportunity.
Stewart-Richardson will be responsible for focusing the department on its core mission of investigating employer/employee discrimination complaints and ensuring that companies doing business with the Municipality of Anchorage follow contract compliance regulations.
Stewart-Richardson most recently served as program director for the State of Alaska's Dept. of Commerce, Community and Economic Development. She also served as president and CEO of the Alaska Black Chamber of Commerce and as Executive Director of Anchorage Bridge Builders.
"Marilyn is a great addition to the team," said Mayor Sullivan. "Her years of expertise and reputation for getting the job done will serve the city well as we strengthen our compliance efforts."
Stewart-Richardson has served on many boards and commissions, including the Anchorage Community Police Relations Task Force, Victims for Justice, Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center and Anchorage United Nations Chapter.
