Joint Finance Subcomittees to Discuss VPSO Program
Hearing coincides with AFN Convention, set for Thursday in Anchorage
Tuesday, October 20, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – House Finance Committee Co-Chair Bill Stoltze, R-Chugiak/Mat-Su, today announced that the Public Safety Finance Subcommittees of the House and Senate will meet Thursday, Oct. 22 in Anchorage to discuss the Village Public Safety Officer program.
Rep. Stoltze worked with Sen. Donny Olson, D-Nome, to schedule the hearing during the annual Alaska Federation of Natives Convention in order to allow rural Alaskans traveling to Anchorage for the event to be able to hear in-person from Dept. of Public Safety Commissioner Joe Masters and others about Governor Sean Parnell’s recent call for greater partnering between the State and communities.
