AFN Convention Hosts Joint House and Senate Energy Committees and
Senate Resources Committee Meeting

(Anchorage) - The House and Senate Energy and Senate Resources
Committees will be holding a special legislative hearing on rural
energy issues during the upcoming AFN Convention in Anchorage. The
committees will be joined by the Bush Caucus legislators. The hearing
is scheduled for Friday, October 23 and will take place at the
De'naina Convention Center where this year's AFN Convention will be

"The AFN Convention is the largest gathering of both Native and
non-Native Alaskans in the state, and through TV, radio and internet
outlets, will reach an audience of an estimated 30,000 people. There
is no question the high profile venue will help establish that
tackling the high cost of energy deserves to be front and center in
the legislature, said House Bush Caucus Chair, Rep. Reggie Joule.
