Credit Union 1 Promotes New Senior Vice President
Anchorage, AK – November 1, 2013 – Credit Union 1 is pleased to announce the promotion of Vice President of Branch Operations, Lorraine Bennett, to Senior Vice President of Branch Operations. A 30 year industry expert, Bennett has veteran experience with Branch Operations at Credit Union 1.
“This promotion is in recognition of Lorraine’s many years of hard work and extensive knowledge,” said retiring President/CEO Leslie Ellis. “She will play a key role in determining our branch strategy going forward.” Ellis is retiring at the end of this year after a 30‐year career as Credit Union 1’s President and CEO. She will remain in a consulting position to the credit union’s board of directors.
Bennett was originally hired in October 1983, giving her the distinction of being the second longest tenured employee at Credit Union 1. Over the past three decades, she has held several positions at the credit union, ranging from ATM Clerk to Branch Manager to AVP, VP and now SVP of Branch Operations. Bennett began her career as an ATM expert in the Lower 48, moving to Alaska after the launch of the AK Option Network. She has since become certified as a Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist and is working toward her credentials as a Certified Fraud Examiner.
“Lorraine has long been a proven leader within our organization, demonstrating a strong work ethic and extensive knowledge of Credit Union 1 and our industry,” said Chief Operating Officer Tom Newins. “She has created our operational procedures to ensure member transactions are processed quickly and accurately, while offering a consistently high level of service.” Newins will succeed Ellis in 2014 as President/CEO of the credit union.
