Angela Rodell Named Revenue Commissioner
November 7, 2013, Anchorage, Alaska - Governor Sean Parnell today appointed Angela Rodell as the commissioner of the Alaska Department of Revenue. Rodell has served as acting commissioner since August 7.
“I am pleased to have Angela join my cabinet,” Governor Parnell said. “She is well-versed in fiscal policy and well-respected among financial managers. Her leadership will serve Alaska well.”
Rodell has served the State of Alaska since September 2011 as the state treasurer and deputy commissioner of Revenue. She was responsible for debt management, cash management, and portfolio management, including the trust funds for the Alaska Retirement Management Board. She oversaw more than $49 billion in the state’s General and Reserve Funds, the Public Employee Retirement System Trust Account, the Teachers Retirement System Trust Account, and the Defined Contribution System Accounts.
Rodell was instrumental in helping the state achieve a general obligation rating of AAA from both Standard & Poor’s and Fitch Ratings.
Prior to her service with the State of Alaska, Rodell was the senior vice president for First Southwest, advising on debt for nine states and multiple state agencies. She was also a managing director of Arimax Financial Advisors.
Rodell received a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Marquette University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Kentucky. She will continue to reside in Juneau.
