Alaska Veterans Job Fair Nov. 8 in Anchorage
JUNEAU, Alaska — T he Alaska Veterans & Military Spouses Job Fair will be Friday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University Center in Anchorage at 3801 Old Seward Highway.
The annual “Hiring Our Heroes” event will have more than 100 employers, education, training and apprenticeship providers serving more than 1,000 veterans, transitioning soldiers and their families.
Fair partners are Morris Alaska Media Group, Sadler’s Home Furnishing, University of Alaska Anchorage, Alaska Society for Human Resource Management, Anchorage Society for Human Resource Management, Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, VETS and Hero2Hired.
Members of the Alaska and Anchorage Society of Human Resource Management will host a career counseling workshop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., providing advice on resumes, interviewing and industry specific careers. Participants are encouraged to bring a resume for review.
Two workshops will also run during the fair –a recruiting workshop from 11 a.m. to noon and again from 1–2 p.m., and a transition workshop from noon to 1 p.m. Priority of Service i s provided for all veterans and eligible persons through the Alaska Job Center Network with veterans’ representatives at the Anchorage, Fai banks and Mat-Su Job Centers.
The Job F air is open to the public and there is no fee to attend. Job seekers are encouraged to bring a resume and dress for potential interviews.
