AEDC surveys local business owners
The Anchorage Economic Development Corp. launched its annual business confidence survey today. In its sixth year, the survey assesses business conditions in each of the city’s economic industries to provide a representative business confidence index, or BCI.
Business leaders are asked to complete the online survey to provide perspective on their organization’s performance and expectations; perceived barriers to growth; importance of various projects to the Anchorage economy; and, opinion of the overall municipal and state economy.
“This survey helps guide AEDC’s direction for the upcoming year,” said AEDC President/CEO Bill Popp. “It’s important to provide businesses an opportunity to express concerns, opportunities and expectations in a noncompetitive atmosphere. From the results we can identify trends and further opportunities to support Anchorage’s continued economic growth.”
The 2012 survey reported the most positive economic outlook since the BCI’s inception, with workforce availability and job readiness the leading barrier to economic growth.
The survey is available online through Dec. 20 at www.AEDCweb.com. Results will be reported at the AEDC Economic Forecast Luncheon on January 29, 2014. To further encourage business participation, each respondent is entered to win 10 tickets to the forecast luncheon.
AEDC is a private, nonprofit membership organization developed in 1987 to encourage growth and to diversify the Anchorage economy. The organization has more than 235 investors, which represents all industries in Anchorage and Alaska. For more information visit www.AEDCweb.com.
