HISTORY IN THE MAKING: QUILTS, QUILTERS AND THEIR STORIES, EXHIBIT OPENING RECEPTION
Friday, November 9, 5-7pm, Special Exhibits Gallery
History in the Making: Quilts, Quilters and their Stories is a non-juried show of contemporary quilts. Each piece reflects the rich history of Kachemak Bay and its creator’s connection to the region. Presenting a wide variety of quilting techniques and a diversity of artists, History in the Making reflects our eclectic community through this ever-evolving American art form. This exhibit opens with a reception on Friday, November 9 from 5-7pm and remains on display through December 30, 2012.
HOLIDAY SALE AT THE MUSEUM STORE
Members only preview sale Tuesday, November 20, 5-7pm
Sale runs Wednesday, November 21 - December 23 during museum hours
Pratt Museum Store will hold a holiday sale featuring 30% off selected items from November 21 through December 23 during regular museum hours, Tuesday through Sunday noon to 5pm, closed Mondays and Thanksgiving Day. Members receive an additional 10% off and may attend the special preview sale Tuesday, November 20, 5-7pm.
STOCKING STUFFER PARTY
Saturday, November 24, 1-4pm, Pratt Museum
Children of all ages are invited to join the Pratt Museum for our annual Stocking Stuffer Party with activities like building Graham Cracker houses, exploring seasonal art activities, decorating cookies and visiting with Santa Claus in the Homestead Cabin. This year’s FREE holiday celebration is a wonderful opportunity for parents to find unique and educational toys and gifts in the Museum Store with a big sale featuring selected items up to 30% off. Members receive an additional 10% off.
QUILTS UNROLLED AND ONSCREEN
Friday, November 30, 5-7pm, Pratt Museum
In conjunction with the special exhibit History in the Making: Quilts, Quilters and their Stories, the Pratt Museum is excited to present a special, two-fold event on Friday, November 30. Beginning at 5pm, the museum will host a special showing of quilts from Pratt Museum’s collections. Visitors will have a chance to see several quilts not normally on exhibit. Following the collections showing, the museum will host a screening of The Great American Quilt Revival. Narrated by Georgia Bonesteel, The Great American Quilt Revival is the story of how quilts came to be recognized as works of art and how the craft of quilting has exploded into popular culture. Quilts Unrolled and Onscreen is a free event.
Every Tuesday and Friday at 4pm, Marine Gallery
Help feed the intertidal creatures in the aquaria. Fish feeding is fun, free and all are welcome!
