PDC Makes Bold Move‐ Sells to Employees

Anchorage and Fairbanks, AK – October 31, 2012 – In a surprise announcement to its employees, Ron Gebhart – PDC’s Board of Directors Chair, informed staff that the existing owners of the firm have sold the company – to them! As an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan), the program transfers ownership to each and every qualifying employee at PDC.

A full service engineering, planning, and survey firm, PDC has built its reputation by providing valueadded client service and superior cold region design expertise. Gebhart stated “The establishment of the ESOP encourages employees to strengthen this reputation by rewarding them with the benefits of ownership that come from a successful business, regardless of their position in the company. “

Gebhart continued that “PDC’s leadership recognized that the best place to put the future of the company is in the hands of the employees that have made us successful. Additionally, the ESOP sets up a solid succession plan for the organization.”

PDC’s President, Royce Conlon added “The ESOP will not change PDC’s current management, client services, operations, or business strategy.” PDC’s leadership decided to look to the future on how to maximize the firm’s ability to grow and prosper. “By empowering our staff, it creates a win‐win situation for the company’s long‐term growth and stability. PDC provides exceptional benefits to help retain staff and to attract the best and the brightest talent the industry has to offer.”

With a current staff of 80 professionals, split evenly between PDC’s Anchorage and Fairbanks offices, the firm has experienced significant growth during the past few years which is reflected in several recent awards. For the past two years, PDC has placed on the Zweig Letter Hot Firm List of the 100 fastestgrowing A/E firms in the country – out of an industry made up of over 80,000 firms. Additionally for the first time, PDC ranked within the top 100 firms nationwide for the Consulting‐Specifying Engineer magazines’ “MEP Giants” program.
