Lorene Palmer Appointed Economic Development Director
(Juneau, AK) – Lorene Palmer has been selected to lead the Division of Economic Development, effective November 26, 2012. She will be based in Juneau.
“Lorene’s private sector experience, coupled with her extensive marketing and management skills, are a great fit with our organization,” said Commissioner Susan Bell. “We offer marketing, financing, and development programs for a wide array of industries including tourism, fisheries, minerals, forest products, and film.”
Palmer’s professional experience includes serving as President and CEO of the Juneau Convention and Visitors Bureau, as an Assistant Professor at University of Alaska Southeast, and as owner of Cornerstone Consulting. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii and has been an active member of the Juneau Chamber of Commerce and Southeast Conference.
The mission of the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development (DCCED) is to promote a healthy economy, strong communities, and protect consumers in Alaska. The 60-person Division of Economic Development works closely with other DCCED agencies including Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority, and Alaska Railroad.
