Chicken of the Sea Albacore Tuna Recalled for Soy Allergen

(JUNEAU, AK) – Tri-Union Seafoods LLC has issued a recall for Chicken of the Sea brand 7-ounce cans of solid white albacore tuna in water because the label does not state the product contains soy, a known allergen. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The product, sold as a multi-pack, was distributed in October and November 2012. The UPC code, also known as the bar code, is found on the label of the product, and the “Best-By Date” is printed on the bottom of the can.

No other codes of this product or other Chicken of the Sea products are affected by this voluntary recall.

Alaska DEC has confirmed the product has been distributed in Alaska. To date, no illnesses have been reported in Alaska or elsewhere.
Consumers who may have purchased the affected product are advised to return it to the store of purchase. Consumers looking for additional information can call the company’s recall information line at 1-877-843-6376.
