Albert Loop Trail reopened for public use

(Anchorage, AK) – The Albert Loop Trail located near the Eagle River Nature Center in Chugach State Park has been reopened following its seasonal closure. The Albert Loop Trail closes every year – from late summer/fall season until winter freeze-up – to reduce the potential for human–bear encounters.

Even though the Albert Loop Trail is open again, an encounter with a bear is still possible along the trail.  All trail users should take appropriate precautionary measures, be prepared to encounter a bear, and be knowledgeable in recognizing bear behavior and how to respond to an encounter.
