Trails advisory board extends recruitment period for new board members
(Anchorage, AK) – The Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation is extending the recruitment period for two outdoor enthusiasts, one in the Anchorage area and one in Western Alaska, to join the nine-member Outdoor Recreational Trails Advisory Board (ORTAB). The primary role of the ORTAB is to assist in the evaluation of grant proposals for the Recreational Trail Grant and Land and Water Conservation Fund programs. ORTAB members meet once or twice per year and they may be asked for advice on subjects such as proposals for state park land acquisitions. Members serve a term of three years. The division is seeking individuals with special knowledge, experience, and interest in outdoor recreation and grant-funded programs.
Applicants should submit resumes, complete the questionnaire posted at http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/misc/ortaboard.htm, and write letters describing their professional background and recreational interests. These documents must be sent to the State Trails Program Coordinator, Darcy Harris, by December 31, 2011, via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by fax to 907-269-8907.
Additional information can be found on the ORTAB website at http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/misc/ortaboard.htm or by calling Darcy at 907-269-8699. To learn more about the Alaska State Trails Program, go to http://www.alaskastatetrails.org.
