FeedRep. Gara to Debate Governor’s Oil Tax Giveaway at UAA
UAA Student Government to host November 14 debate
On Monday, November 14, Representative Les Gara will debate the governor's proposed multi-billion dollar oil giveaway with Bruce Tangeman, Deputy Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Revenue, at the University of Alaska Anchorage. The Union of Students at the University of Alaska Anchorage (USUAA) is hosting the event, which is open to the public and will allow time for questions after the debate.
"Giving away $1.8 billion in tax breaks, based on a hope, wing and prayer that companies won't just give that money to their executives and shareholders is poor policy. As a sovereign, we should require additional investment and jobs in exchange for tax breaks and work on incentives that work," said Rep. Gara.
