Four Mat-Su Valley Delegation Members Oppose Legislative Council's Plans for Purchasing New Anchorage Office Building (Wasilla) - Four State House members of the Legislature's Mat-Su Valley delegation sent a letter to the chairwoman of the Joint Legislative Council yesterday expressing their opposition to the proposed purchase of new Anchorage office space. Area Representatives Bill Stoltze, Eric Feige, Wes Keller, and Mark Neuman signed the four paragraph letter to Legislative Council Chair Senator Linda Menard, R-Wasilla. "We do not believe the proposed purchase is a sound business decision, nor do we believe it is prudent for the Legislature to be engaged in a discussion to purchase this or any other building," the letter states. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 14.1 percent of people who were 18 and older in Alaska in 2010 were veterans. Thousands more are stationed at military bases and posts around the 49th state. "The military is a cornerstone in our state, and it is critical that we figure out ways to provide the best services," said Representative Saddler.
