America Recycles Day on November 15 Also Proclaimed “Anchorage Recycles Day”

The Mayor's Office and the Anchorage Assembly both recently
signed proclamations that November 15, 2011, is Anchorage
Recycles Day. November 15 is already "America Recycles Day,"
a day designated for raising awareness about recycling and buying
recycled products. By proclaiming the day as "Anchorage
Recycles Day" as well, the Mayor's Office hopes to further the
message by making it more personal to the Anchorage community.
Governor Parnell also recently proclaimed November 15 to be
Alaska Recycles Day.

This year, Anchorage Recycles Day features a juried art
exhibit highlighting art created using repurposed
materials. The exhibition, called revAmp - Recycle -
resTore, is at the International Gallery of Contemporary
Art (IGCA) through November 26. The IGCA is
located at 427 D Street and is open to the public
Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 4pm.
