Alyeska Resort Winter Packages Offer Savings and Memories
October 23, 2011 (Girdwood, Alaska) – In Alaska, the phenomena of “termination dust” – the first dusting of snow to settle on the higher elevation peaks – signifies the coming of winter. For Alyeska Resort, Alaska’s top ski destination, this change in season is a time of excitement as mountain crews start preparation for ski season. Opening day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 23, 2011 (conditions permitting). Winter packages for skiers and non-skiers are now available, offering savings and uniquely Alaskan experiences.
The ski season at Alyeska Resort is one of the longest in North America spanning from Thanksgiving Weekend through Memorial Day when conditions allow. There are distinct high and low seasons during the season. To correspond with business levels, resort packages reflect tiered pricing where low-season, defined as November 23 to December 15, 2011; January 1 to February 29, 2012; and April 1 to 29, 2012 excluding holidays, often provides guests the greatest levels of savings. High-season, is defined as December 16-31, 2011; March 1 to 31; and holidays. Guests can also find additional savings by choosing stays between Sundays to Thursdays. As locals know, visiting midweek will provide avid skiers many more runs with fresh snow than a weekend visit when the resort is bustling.
