AEA Files Susitna-Wtan Hydro Preliminary Permit
The Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) has filed the Preliminary Permit Application for the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project. The Preliminary Permit Application gives a priority to AEA's license application under the Federal Power Act, while AEA continues to study the site and prepare to apply for a license.
AEA is moving forward with filing the Pre-Application Document (PAD) with FERC on December 29. The PAD will kick-off the formal FERC process and will provide numerous opportunities for public involvement.
The Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project website (susitna-watanahydro.org) will be updated frequently this week. Updates include notes from the Oct. 24 and 25 Resource Agency Meetings, FERC schedules, environmental base flows and a list of ongoing Alaska Department of Fish and Game studies within the project area. AEA is moving forward with technical work group meetings the week of December 5 and hopes to have additional information shortly.
