Thanks From Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies
The Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies would like to thank the Alaska Community Foundation and the Elmer and Ruth Schwantes Fund for a recent grant in the amount of $4,970 for our new Winter Ecology Program. These funds enable CACS to offer the very first 3 day residential winter program as a school field trip for Alaskan students. Based on nationally recognized curriculum, CACS developed this 3 day residential program specifically for Alaskan students to include classes in animal science, physical science, culture, winter survival and adventure. This new winter program offers an unparalleled opportunity for students to experience an expanded diversity of winter wildlife habitat, field science experience, winter camping and orienteering with minimal human environmental impact.
